How to Disable Comments on Pages in WordPress

For many blogs, it makes sense to let readers leave comments on the blog posts but some of us may want to disable this function on pages (Contact, Archives, etc).

This is very simple and does not require amending any code at all.

Just follow the steps below:

Go to All Pages

Wordpress All Pages

Move your cursor over the selected page and click “Quick Edit”

How to get Chinese Date Format in WordPress

I recently started a Chinese blog and was trying to change my posted date to the Chinese format.

I searched online and even though people had posted on forums asking how to do the exact same thing, there were no easy solutions provided.

After a few frustrating hours of random fiddling with php codes, reading forums with inconclusive results, and futile online googling, I chanced upon this useful guide by wordpress:

Wordpress Date in Chinese

And here’s how you do it:

Go to general settings (I’m assuming you have the Chinese-version WordPress installed)

Wordpress General Settings in Chinese

Under “Date Format”, select “Custom”, and amend the code to “m月d日Y年”. The date below is December 24th 2014.

Click “Save Changes”.

And you have your date in Chinese!

TIP: if you would like to tweak the format, you can amend the functions.php file under your child theme. I did not want my date being hyperlinked, and I didn’t want the “Posted by”, so I changed it to the below format:

Hope that helps, and all the best with your Chinese website!

Totally Hot Stuff – Singapore Shop that Sells Interesting Collectibles!

I chanced upon a shop called “Totally Hot Stuff” at Westgate recently. I went into the shop and was intrigued by all the interesting items on sale!

There was a battery powered “self-stirring mug”, mini vending-machines, a puzzle with a countdown timer, an alarm designed like an old-school bomb, portable phone batteries, and many many more!

I decided to buy a cool USB / battery-powered music speaker designed like a music amplifier.

It serves as the perfect addition to my office desk.

A Happy Night

Went for Terry and Xian Zhen’s wedding tonight at Mandarin Orchard Hotel. It was truly an intimate and unpretentious celebration of the pure love between this couple. No fancy gimmicks, no invitation of a multitude of guests with the intention to impress, no ostentatious paraphernalia.

Just a celebration of Love.

I had a great time with my JC mates, and it was really nice to meet up with Mr Chin as well; without him I would probably have flunked my A-level mathematics!

xmmApril 14th – Was the Xiong Di for Mr Huat on his big day. Tiring day, but I enjoyed every moment. Huat ah!
